The first of these is Moon Beaver by Andrew Hook. Andrew’s collection of short fiction, The Virtual Menagerie (Elastic Press, 2002), was highly acclaimed and was short-listed for a British Fantasy Society Award for best collection in 2003. His first novel is a comic satire packed with wisecracks, cynicism, and naïve hope, examining the nature of “self” in a society where individuality is a commodity and wasted lives are commonplace.

The second novel is Terror From Beyond Middle England by Sarah Crabtree. Sarah is currently making a name for herself in the UK as a horror writer, although this novel is in an altogether different vein.  Small-town temp saves the world in this tale about friends, lovers, dysfunctional families, genetic modification, and all kinds of weird stuff that nobody expects to stumble across in a prim and proper English town.
